What is a birth doula?

A birth doula is more than just a support person for birthing people and their partners. It’s someone who understands the pregnant and birthing body and can help you feel at ease and empowered with knowledge during one of the most intense and intimate moments of your life. We help you understand that labor is pain with a purpose, and it’s not here to hurt you. We help you learn about childbirth, support you in preparing for childbirth, we teach your partner how to support you during labor, we make sure your partner gets some sleep and stays hydrated during a long labor, and most importantly we are your advocate at the hospital or wherever you choose to give birth.

As someone who has always had a calling for birthwork, I’m prepared to be your advocate and support person during labor and birth so that you can have the most positive experience possible. My goal is always to prioritize your preferences and to stand up for you in a hospital setting.
